47 hour Armed Guard Training Course

Guards who carry firearms are required to complete a 47 Hour Firearms course before they can be licensed as an armed security guard. This course includes: seven hours of classroom instruction in the Use of Force (NYS Penal Law Art. 35) followed by a written examination, ten hours of dry-firing, weapon retention, holster work, firearms cleaning, and then 30 hours on the firing range followed by weapons qualification. Upon successful completion of this course the guard is issued a training certificate. This certificate must accompany the security guard’s registration application when submitted to the Department of State.

This class is 5 days. You must attend all 5 days.

There is a 5 person minimum in order for us to hold the class!

What you need to bring to class:

•NYS Security Guard Card

•NYS Pistol Permit

•Eye and Ear Protection

•Baseball Cap

•Security Shirt or Jacket/ Duty Pant (No Shorts)

•Dress for Weather!

•Pants Belt

•Duty Belt

•Minimum 4 belt keepers

•Level 2 minimum/ Level 3 Recommended Retention Holster

•Magazine Holder

•Firearms Cleaning Kit

•Tourniquet and holder for belt

•Ballistic vest recommended

•3 minimum Firearm Specific Magazines or speed loaders

•Duty Weapon in either 9mm, 10mm, 40 cal, 45 cal semi automatic OR .38/.357 cal revolver

•600 Rounds of Ammunition- 450/ball ammo/practice ammo, 150 JHP-duty ammo and 5 rounds 12 gauge slug 2 3/4″

•Plan on bringing lunch and hydration for each day

•First 2 days are all classroom, last three days will be full range days
