The first required course for a Security Guard is an 8 Hour Pre-Assignment Training course. This is a general introductory course. Upon successful completion of this course the guard is issued a training certificate. This certificate must accompany the security guard’s registration application and fingerprints when submitted to the Department of State. Once the applicant is approved and they start working in the field, the guard has 90 days to complete the second training course, the 16 hour On-the-Job (OJT) training course.  (Revised 01/2020)

  • All students are to bring either a valid NYS Guard Card or a NYS Driver’s License for ID purposes
